With the proliferation of the camera, viewing images of atrocities has becoming something of a commonplace. As more and more images of atrocities intrude our normal lives our role in regards to them has become that of an audience and voyeur; viewing images of atrocities as a spectacle rather than as a depiction of suffering. However whether we choose to see or not to see these images, images of atrocities have enabled positive movements and awareness to spread throughout society.
